An Indian Coast Guard helicopter has been involved in a major accident. The helicopter, which was dispatched to assist in the Arabian Sea, crashed near Porbandar in Gujarat. A ship was stranded in the Arabian Sea, prompting its crew to send a distress signal to the Coast Guard. In response, the Coast Guard sent a helicopter to assist the people on board the ship. The helicopter, carrying two pilots and two divers, crashed into the sea before reaching the ship. While one diver has been rescued and is in stable condition, both pilots and the other diver remain missing. The Coast Guard has launched a search operation to locate them, deploying four ships and two aircraft. The Coast Guard is optimistic that the missing personnel will be found soon.
In a statement following the incident, the Indian Coast Guard noted that an advanced light helicopter previously saved 67 lives during a recent storm in Gujarat. This same helicopter was dispatched at 11 pm on Monday to aid the crew of the Indian-flagged vessel Hari Lee, which was stranded in the Arabian Sea. However, the helicopter crashed 45 km off the Porbandar coast.
Wreckage of the Helicopter Found
The Coast Guard confirmed that there were four individuals aboard the helicopter. During the rescue mission, the helicopter had to land immediately. One diver has been successfully rescued, and the search continues for the remaining three individuals. The remains of the helicopter have been located, and a search operation is underway in the area where the wreckage was found.
