Instagram New Features:
Instagram has introduced three new features in its Direct Messaging app. WhatsApp users will now be able to share their live location with friends, give nicknames to their friends, and use more than 300 new stickers. These features are aimed at competing with Snapchat and enhancing the user experience on Instagram. Let’s take a detailed look at these three new features.
Location Sharing:
Instagram has introduced a new feature that allows you to share your live location with friends via Direct Messages (DMs). You can share your location for up to an hour, which is ideal for meeting up at concerts, events, or any busy place. You can either share your live location for one hour or pin a location to plan with friends.
When using this feature, only people in your personal chat will be able to see your location. The location cannot be shared with anyone else. A notification will appear in your chat to alert you that you are sharing your location, and you can stop sharing at any time. This feature is currently available in some countries.
Nicknames:
Now, you can edit usernames and create custom nicknames for your friends in Instagram chats. To create a nickname, go to a friend’s chat, visit their profile, and select the “Nicknames” option. Click on their name and edit it with the nickname you want to use. Then, click “Done.” These nicknames will only appear in your chats, and your friend’s Instagram account name will not change. You can change the nickname back to the original name whenever you like and control who can change the nickname in the chat.
New Stickers:
Instagram has launched a pack of 17 new stickers, allowing users to choose from over 300 funny stickers for their chats. You can also ‘save’ stickers while chatting, making it easier to reuse stickers shared by your friends or created by yourself.
