Aamir Khan’s elder son Junaid Khan made his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Maharaj’. He is getting a lot of appreciation for his performance in this movie. He has played a difficult role in the very first film. Despite being the son of a leading actor in Bollywood, Junaid is very simple. The director of his first film said that Junaid never flirts and travels by auto.
Speaking to ‘India Today’, director Siddharth P Malhotra said, “I will throw a party on the day Junaid shows his tantrums. Throughout the year he came to my house along with other actors to read the script of the film. Because practice was essential for his court scenes and monologues. This practice went on in my house for a year. This role was difficult for the debutant. So he trained hard for a year with Sneha and me. Every time he used to come by rickshaw. Even my staff used to ask, ‘Is this Aamir Khan’s son?’ Because he is very simple and honest.”
Malhotra recalled that Junaid was denied entry to Yash Raj Studios during the screening of ‘Maharaj’ because he had arrived in an auto. “The funny thing is that on June 13, there is a screening at Yash Raj Film Studios. It was Junaid’s grandmother’s birthday and we were waiting for it. Jaideep and I were standing outside, suddenly I got a call from Junaid, ‘Sir, these people are not letting me in’. I asked, who? He said, ‘Yashraj’s security personnel.’ I told him ‘Tell them you are the hero of the film.’ He said that those people are not believing in it.”
“I asked him to show the poster of the film, but Junaid said the security personnel did not believe him. Then I had to go down and tell them he was a hero. Security personnel were confused as he arrived there in a rickshaw instead of a car. So is Junaid. He is similar to his film character Karsandas Mulji. He is a common man, who has shown sincerity in his work,” said the director.
“There is absolutely no pretentiousness about him. We have been out to dinner together 30-40 times, but he has never invited the paparazzi. Many budding actors call the paparazzi when they are with their directors or producers. So that the paparazzi will take their photos and videos and promote them. But Junaid is not one of those actors. He is currently doing his third film. One of his films has been released, the second one has been shot and half of the third is still to be shot,” said Malhotra.
Junaid’s upcoming film is based on a love story. He will be seen in the lead role with Sai Pallavi. Recently, both of them completed the shooting of the film in Japan.
