State Bureau, Ranchi: The state government has expanded the scope of financial assistance for women under the Mukhyamantri Maaiyaan Samman Yojana. Now, women will be eligible for this scheme from the age of 18. Previously, the minimum age requirement was 21.
On Friday, a decision was made during a state cabinet meeting at Project Bhavan Secretariat, chaired by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The meeting approved a total of 63 proposals across various departments.
8 Lakh More Women to Benefit from Maaiyaan Samman Yojana Cabinet Secretary Vandana Dadel stated that previously, 4.8 million women benefited from the Mukhyamantri Maaiyaan Samman Yojana. With the new provision, an additional 800,000 women are expected to benefit, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 5.6 million.
An Estimated Additional ₹560 Crore to be Spent on Maaiyaan Samman Yojana Earlier, women aged 21 to 50 were eligible for a monthly benefit of ₹1,000 under the scheme. The inclusion of 800,000 more women is expected to incur an additional expenditure of ₹560 crore.
Contract Police Assistants’ Salary Increased to ₹13,000 In another important decision, contract-based assistant police officers will now receive a monthly salary of ₹13,000 instead of ₹10,000. Additionally, they will be granted an annual uniform allowance of ₹4,000. This decision was made after the state government promised to improve their conditions following their protests.
The government has also increased the monthly honorarium for Jal Sahiya workers to ₹2,000. Furthermore, students from grades 9 to 12 will now receive ₹1,200 for two sets of uniforms, instead of the previous ₹600. Dairy farmers will receive an increased incentive of ₹5 per liter, up from ₹3.
Health Insurance for 30,000 Lawyers The state cabinet has decided to provide health insurance worth ₹500,000 to 30,000 lawyers. Additionally, newly registered lawyers at the Bar Council will receive a monthly allowance of ₹5,000, with half of this amount funded by the state government. Lawyers aged over 65 will receive a monthly pension of ₹14,000 upon surrendering their license.
Compensation for Families of Deceased Candidates in Police Recruitment After the cabinet meeting, Health Minister Banna Gupta announced that the families of 12 candidates who died during the excise police recruitment process will receive ₹1 lakh each from his salary fund.
JETET Exam to Be Held on OMR Sheet The Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JETET) will now be conducted using OMR sheets. Initially, the exam was planned to be computer-based online.
