Ranchi: Jharkhand Weather Today
The cold wave continues to grip the entire state, including the capital Ranchi. According to the weather forecast, dense fog will affect the northern parts of the state, such as Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Pakur, Jamtara, Giridih, Dhanbad, and Sahibganj, as well as the southeastern regions, including East and West Singhbhum, Simdega, and Seraikela Kharsawan. A yellow alert has been issued for these areas.
Possibility of Fog and Clouds
As evening falls, the cold winds blowing from the northwest are intensifying the chill. The minimum temperature in Kanke, near Ranchi, was recorded at 4.4°C. According to meteorologist Abhishek Anand, on January 6, Ranchi and its nearby districts are likely to experience light to moderate fog, followed by partly cloudy skies.
Over the next two days, i.e., January 6 and 7, the minimum temperature is expected to rise by 2 to 3°C.
Following this, during the next three days, the temperature may drop by 2 to 4°C, leading to an increase in cold conditions.
Kanke Records the Lowest Temperature
In the last 24 hours, the state’s weather remained dry, with light to moderate fog in some areas. The highest maximum temperature was recorded at 27.8°C in Chaibasa, while the lowest minimum temperature of 4.4°C was recorded in Kanke. Ranchi’s maximum temperature stood at 24.6°C, while the minimum was recorded at 9.2°C.
Due to the ongoing cold wave and severe winter, people prefer staying indoors. The cold is so intense that many avoid stepping out before 10 a.m. Every evening, the biting cold causes significant discomfort, particularly for laborers who are unable to go to work due to the harsh weather.
Additionally, the elderly are facing difficulties due to the cold. Despite wearing warm clothes all day, the impact of the cold remains evident. The chilly winds are disrupting daily life, and according to the weather department, relief from the cold is unlikely in the coming days.

Children and elderly individuals need to take extra precautions during the winter season. It is advisable to avoid stepping out early in the morning.
