State Bureau, Ranchi – The Maaiya Samman Yojana launched by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is creating a buzz. Although the opposition may label it as a pre-election ploy, the reality is that the scheme, which provides a monthly benefit of ₹1,000, has captivated a large segment of the population across both urban and rural areas.
Even Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s political opponents have taken notice of the scheme. While they may refrain from openly promoting or praising it, they have directed their supporters to engage in the campaign to ensure that women in their regions benefit, which may also influence their prospects in the upcoming Assembly elections.
30 Lakh Women Registered
The success of the scheme is evident as over 30 lakh women have already registered. The state government aims to include over 50 lakh women in the scheme, targeting women aged between 21 and 50 years. The swift registration of over 30 lakh women underscores the scheme’s popularity.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren and senior officials are closely monitoring the process. The Chief Minister has given clear instructions to ensure that as many women as possible benefit from the scheme and has ordered the elimination of intermediaries, stressing that any negligence will not be tolerated.
Extension Request
Former minister and independent MLA Saryu Rai has requested Chief Minister Hemant Soren to either extend the deadline for availing the scheme benefits to August 31 or continue it until the election code of conduct is in place. Rai mentioned that he has also published and distributed the application forms for the Maaiya Samman Yojana in his area.
He has urged people in his constituency to collect the free forms and take advantage of the scheme, emphasizing that such beneficial and welfare-oriented programs should be welcomed.
