State Bureau, Ranchi: As the countdown for the official announcement of the Jharkhand Assembly elections begins, the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has accelerated its efforts to finalize its election strategy.
On Monday, October 14, a meeting of JMM’s extended central committee will be held at Sohrai Bhavan in Ranchi. In this meeting, an election strategy will be formulated in view of the upcoming assembly elections. Divisional-level reviews will be conducted, and directives will be given.
Notably, separate meetings for all districts have already been held recently, which included JMM’s working president Hemant Soren. The party’s main focus is on the Santhal Pargana and Kolhan divisions, where JMM has a strong voter base.
In the previous assembly elections, JMM managed to push the BJP back in these areas. Now, the party will make every possible effort to maintain its strong position while also targeting new regions. The party will decide on the candidates’ names after thorough discussion and deliberation. In Santhal Pargana, former JMM MLA Lobin Hembrom from Borio has left the party and joined the BJP, while Champai Soren has also exited the party. These two leaders will pose challenges for JMM in these divisions. Suggestions will be taken from committee members in the extended meeting to improve coordination.
JMM is expected to adopt an aggressive stance in the upcoming assembly elections, focusing its attacks on the policies of the central government.
Advances made during meetings with top Congress leaders in Delhi Recently, Chief Minister Hemant Soren visited Delhi and held meetings with Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, and other senior leaders. During these discussions, a formula for seat-sharing was decided. Based on this, JMM will align with Congress in the assembly elections.
