Kerala Wayanad landslide : Heavy rain has been falling across the country for the past few days. In Kerala, the rains have stopped and due to heavy rains, a landslide has occurred in Kerala’s Wayanad on Tuesday morning. In this incident, 19 people died and hundreds of people are feared to be trapped under the debris. The news in this context has been given by Indian Express. Rescue operations have been started by NDRF and local administration after the incident.
This incident of landslide has happened in Meppadi area of Wayanad district. Two children have also died in this incident. It is also feared that hundreds of people are trapped under the debris. At present, the rains are heavy in Kerala and the ongoing rains are creating obstacles in the rescue operations at the places where the landslides occurred.
The first incident of landslide occurred in Meppadi area around 2 pm on Tuesday night. Then another landslide occurred around 4 am. According to the reports that have come out so far, 19 people have died in both landslides in this incident. Also, there is a possibility that many people are trapped in this and the rescue operation has been started by the administration.
Meanwhile, following the landslide incident, fire brigade and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) units have reached the spot and relief work has been started on war footing. Also, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has informed that an additional team of NDRF is also entering for relief work in the landslide affected areas.
Meanwhile, it is said that 10 to 15 people injured in this accident have been admitted to the hospital. It is also said that a team of the Health Department has also arrived at the spot and two helicopters of the Air Force have also arrived for rescue operations. Also a control room has been started for any help.

After the landslide incident in Wayanad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also posted on X (tweet) and assured that the central government will provide all possible help for the relief work. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “We are distressed by the landslide incident. We are with all those who have lost loved ones and pray for the wounded. Rescue operations are currently underway to help all those affected. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the situation there will be given all possible help from the Centre.”
