Now, there’s good news for the film’s director and producers: it will be shown in the Supreme Court of India.
The screening of Lapataa Ladies, directed by Kiran Rao, is set to take place today (August 9) at the Supreme Court. A notice has been issued regarding the screening, which will be attended by producer Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. They will also interact with the attendees.
According to the notice, the Chief Justice of India will be present at the screening, along with other judges and their spouses. The film will be screened from 4:15 PM to 6:20 PM, following court hours, with an interaction session with Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao afterward. India Today has reported this.
The Chief Justice commented on the screening, stating, “I have started this initiative to sensitize the employees of the Supreme Court, which is why this screening is taking place. There are many aspects of the Supreme Court that are not publicized, such as our 24-hour ayurvedic clinic for the treatment of employees. This screening aims to strengthen the mutual relationship between members.”
Lapataa Ladies is currently available on Netflix. The film stars Nitanshi Goyal, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Srivastava, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan. The story revolves around two young newlyweds who switch places on a train while their in-laws are leaving, exploring the subsequent events in their lives. The film grossed ₹23.29 crore and received considerable appreciation.
