Lakshya Sen in quaterfinals of badminton singles : On the sixth day of the Paris Olympics 2024, India’s star player Lakshya Sen has reached the quarterfinals of badminton. Lakshya Sen defeated India’s HS Prannoy in spectacular fashion in the quarter-finals. He defeated Prannoy 21-12 and 21-6. Lakshya became the second Indian to reach the quarter-finals of badminton men’s singles at the Olympics. Before him, P Kashyap reached the quarter-finals in 2012. Now after 12 years Lakshya has achieved a big feat.
Lakshya Sen showed aggressive attitude in the first set itself –
Lakshya Sen played very aggressively in the first set and performed brilliantly. He didn’t give his compatriot HS Prannoy any chance and started to build a lead from the start. Meanwhile Prannoy was not seen in his rhythm. Lakshya Sen did not give him a single chance to score. Prannoy couldn’t stand him. Lakshya Sen won the first set 21-12 one-sidedly to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The first set was repeated in the second set as well. Lakshya Sen continued his impressive performance, while Prannoy was seen getting frustrated in reply. So Prannoy could not earn more than 6 points in the second set. At the same time, Lakshya Sen forced him to make mistakes. Lakshya then won the second set in spectacular style 21-6.
Lakshya defeated Jonathan Christie to reach the quarter-finals –
Lakshya Sen defeated Kevin Corden in his first match at the Paris Olympics. But the Guatemalan athlete withdrew from the Olympics due to an elbow injury. After this all his results were ‘deleted’. Thus Lakshya Sen’s first victory was overturned. Lakshya Sen then got off to a slow start to defeat Belgium’s Julien Carrage in Group L of the men’s singles. He then defeated Jonathan Christie in the group match itself. After this, it started to be discussed everywhere. He defeated Christie 21-12 and 21-18 to book a place in the quarter-finals.
