Duleep Trophy 2024: India C Beat India D by 4 Wickets
India C defeated India D by 4 wickets in the Duleep Trophy match held at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh. On the third day of the match, the India C team chased down the target of 233 runs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 46 in the second innings, playing a crucial role in the victory. Aryan Juyal (47) and Rajat Patidar (44) also made significant contributions.
At one point, it seemed that the India C team might be in trouble. However, Abhishek Porel and Manav Suthar batted smartly, with Porel scoring an unbeaten 35 and Suthar adding 19 runs to lead the team to victory. In the second innings, Manav Suthar excelled with the ball, taking 7 wickets for 49 runs. He also took a wicket in the first innings and was named the Man of the Match.
Manav Suthar Named Man of the Match
Spinner Manav Suthar was the standout performer in the India C vs India D match. Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, Suthar’s brilliant bowling played a key role in defeating India D. He delivered 19.1 overs in the second innings, taking 7 wickets and including seven maiden overs. His efforts helped restrict India D to 236 runs on Saturday. In the first innings, India D scored 164 runs, while India C managed 168 runs. Suthar also took a wicket in the first innings.
Suthar dismissed Devdutt Padikkal (56), Ricky Bhui (44), Akshar Patel (28), and KL Bharat (16). Born in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, Suthar’s father had hoped he would become a batsman. However, Suthar chose a different path, guided by coach Dheeraj. Suthar shared this story while speaking to Indian Express. He made his first-class cricket debut in February 2022.
