Mahakumbh Traffic:
Lakhs of devotees are traveling to Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, every day for darshan on the occasion of the Mahakumbh Mela. A massive crowd is gathering to take a holy dip during the Mahakumbh Mela. However, many devotees are facing difficulties while traveling to Prayagraj. It has now come to light that pilgrims heading towards Prayagraj are encountering unprecedented traffic jams stretching for several kilometers.
Devotees traveling to the Mahakumbh Mela are also facing traffic congestion in Bihar. Reports indicate that many pilgrims heading to Prayagraj to take a holy dip at the Sangam are stuck in a traffic jam of about 10 km in Rohtas district. Many devotees are experiencing significant distress due to these traffic issues. The Times of India has reported on this matter.
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari has criticized the government’s planning, citing the traffic difficulties faced by devotees. He stated, “People are being forced to walk 15 to 20 km. Women, children, and the elderly are struggling to reach the junction. They do not know what to do. To assist the stranded devotees, buses should be deployed, and free transport should be provided.” MP Tiwari urged the government to take action.
Meanwhile, a massive crowd is expected in Prayagraj on the occasion of Maghi Purnima. Crores of devotees are likely to arrive for the fifth holy bath, which is one of the six sacred bathing days. In response, the Uttar Pradesh government is implementing necessary measures to manage the situation. Additionally, on January 29, during the Mauni Amavasya bath, 30 devotees tragically lost their lives in a stampede. However, the administration is taking proper precautions to prevent such incidents in the future.
Possibility of Walking 8 to 10 km
If you are planning to visit Prayagraj, be prepared to walk 8 to 10 km. From the city’s border, you will need to enter Prayagraj by shuttle bus or auto-rickshaw. From there, you will have to walk 8 to 10 km to reach the Mahakumbh site. Otherwise, you may have to wait until after the Maghi Purnima Snan on February 12 to reach Prayagraj. This traffic plan was implemented following the stampede during the second Shahi Snan on Mauni Amavasya, January 29.
