Medininagar (Palamu) – During a search operation in the Karimati forest area of Panki police station, Palamu Police achieved a major success by arresting three TSPC militants along with an AK-47 rifle. In addition to the rifle, the police seized one shell casing from an AK-47, 79 live 7.62mm bullets, one country-made pistol, a locally-made handgun, four live 7.65mm bullets, two touchscreen mobile phones, and two TSPC organization pamphlets.
Details of Arrested Militants:
The militants were identified as Shravan Oraon alias Hemant alias Abhay Kumar (26) from Amdiha village under Rohtas police station, Prem Ganjhu alias Sagar alias Dashrath Ganjhu (24) from Masiyatu Dhapkatoli village under Balumath police station, and Santu Kumar alias Shailendra from Balhi village under Kunda police station.
Operation Overview:
Palamu SP Reshma Rameshan informed reporters on Tuesday that, on the night of October 28, information was received that three to four members of the militant group TSPC were seen with illegal weapons in the Karimaati forest of Panki police station area. The police launched a search operation, and, under a Sal tree, spotted three suspects. On seeing the police, they attempted to flee but were apprehended with the help of armed forces. During interrogation, they confessed to being active members of the TSPC’s Akraman Ganjhu team.
Criminal Records:
Prem Ganjhu has six cases registered against him in Balumath and Herhanj police stations in Latehar district, Santu Kumar has five cases in various police stations in Chatra and Palamu districts, and Hemant has cases registered in Manika and Herhanj police stations. Santu Kumar is accused of involvement in the killing of two security personnel in an operation on February 7 in Chatra district.
Seizure of Illegal Liquor and Spirit:
In another operation, with assembly elections approaching, police have intensified raids against the illegal liquor trade in the area. Acting on a tip-off, the local police launched an intensive raid on Tuesday in Vaidya Bigaha and seized a large quantity of raw spirit used for liquor production along with manufactured liquor. Inspector-in-charge Chandan Kumar, who led the raid, reported the seizure of 350 liters of illegal raw spirit stored in 10 gallons and 45 liters of manufactured liquor stored in 3 gallons from the house of Raja Kumar, son of Mahendra Sao. The seized liquor is valued at approximately INR 30,000.
The police have registered a case under Crime Number 149/24 and are proceeding with further legal actions. Following the announcement of assembly elections, the police have been conducting continuous raids in both urban and remote rural areas, taking strict action against illegal liquor traders.
