Punjab AAP Politics: Aam Aadmi Party Faces Political Turmoil in Punjab
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered a major defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections, and the impact of this loss is now being seen in Punjab as well. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is being accused of working under pressure from Delhi, while AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal is facing allegations of interfering in the Punjab government. This has intensified political tensions in the state.
Meanwhile, a peculiar issue within the AAP-led Punjab government has come to light. It has been revealed that a minister in Bhagwant Mann’s government was assigned a portfolio that did not actually exist. Despite this, Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal functioned in that role for 20 months. This revelation has sparked a political uproar, with the opposition strongly criticizing the state government.
According to a report by India Today, the opposition alleges that it took the Punjab government 20 months to realize that the portfolio assigned to Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal was non-existent. This has raised serious questions about Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s governance. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have questioned his administrative capabilities, asking what he had been doing all this time.
Following intense criticism, the Punjab government has now clarified its position by issuing a notification regarding the department under Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal. The government has officially abolished the so-called Administrative Reforms Department, which had been assigned to Dhaliwal despite not actually existing. The Punjab Chief Secretary issued a gazette notification on Friday, stating that the decision to dissolve the department was made on the advice of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Amit Malviya’s Criticism
BJP leader Amit Malviya has strongly criticized the Punjab government’s handling of the situation. He stated, “If it takes almost 20 months to realize that a minister in the Punjab government was assigned a non-existent department, one can only imagine the governance crisis in the state. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is a hypocrite who should be removed from public life.”
The controversy surrounding the AAP government in Punjab has further fueled political debates, with opposition parties using this incident to question the party’s credibility and efficiency.
