Sachin Tendulkar’s Post on Vinesh Phogat’s Disqualification: Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was a gold medal contender at this year’s Paris Olympics. She performed well in the preliminary matches and reached the finals. However, she was disqualified from the Paris Olympics due to an extra 100 grams of weight before the final match, leaving everyone shocked. The gold medal dream of the entire country was shattered. Despite this setback, everyone is standing by Vinesh during this difficult time. Recently, Sachin Tendulkar shared a post on social media, using the phrase “Umpire’s Call,” to express his support for Vinesh.
Vinesh Phogat has filed a petition with the International Court of Sports against the decision, demanding that she be awarded a joint silver medal. India’s appeal in this case has been accepted by the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport). Now, Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has written a post in support of Vinesh Phogat, stating that she definitely deserves to win the silver medal and suggesting a revisit of the rules.
Sachin Tendulkar shared a post on social media, writing, “Time to take the umpire’s call! Every sport has rules, and perhaps sometimes they should be reconsidered. Vinesh Phogat qualified for the finals with a decent and commendable performance. Disqualifying her on the basis of weight before the finals and depriving her of a silver medal goes against logic and the spirit of sportsmanship.”
Sachin Tendulkar further explained, “It is understandable if a player is disqualified for an ethical breach, such as the use of performance-enhancing drugs. In that case, it would be appropriate not to award any medal and to place the player last.”
He added, “But Vinesh has honestly beaten her opponents in all the matches leading up to the finals and placed in the top-2. She definitely deserves a silver medal.”
Tendulkar concluded, “We all await the verdict of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but we must hope and pray that Vinesh gets the silver medal she deserves.”
