Saif Ali Khan Attack: Suspect Detained in Chhattisgarh After Mumbai Police Manhunt
Famous Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was brutally attacked late Thursday night. Following the incident, the attacker fled the scene, prompting Mumbai Police to launch a massive manhunt. More than 30 teams were deployed to locate the suspect, and after 50 hours of investigation, a suspect has been detained at Durg railway station in Chhattisgarh, as reported by The Indian Express.
Suspect Detained on Dnyaneshwari Express
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained a suspect traveling in the general compartment of the Dnyaneshwari Express based on a tip-off from Mumbai Police. This train runs from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai) to Shalimar (Kolkata). A photograph of the suspect, identified as Akash Kanojia, was shared with the RPF, leading to his arrest. Mumbai Police immediately dispatched a team to Chhattisgarh by air to interrogate him further.
CCTV Footage Helps Trace the Attacker
CCTV footage played a crucial role in the investigation. The attacker, who changed his clothes after the attack, was spotted on cameras at two locations. In one instance, he was seen purchasing headphones from a shop in Dadar. Despite these developments, the investigation is ongoing, and police are piecing together evidence to ascertain the full sequence of events.
What Happened at Saif Ali Khan’s Residence?
The shocking attack occurred at Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra residence. The attacker reportedly entered the house and was spotted in the bathroom of Jeh’s room by the house help. Armed with a stick and knife, the assailant rushed towards Jeh’s bed but was intercepted by the house help. Upon hearing the commotion, Saif and Kareena Kapoor rushed to the scene. Saif attempted to restrain the intruder but was stabbed multiple times in the neck, arm, and back.
The house help, along with Taimur, immediately transported Saif to Lilavati Hospital in a rickshaw. Doctors performed surgery to remove the knife tip embedded in his back. Saif is now in stable condition and is expected to be discharged in two to three days.
