The 2007 film ‘Welcome’ directed by Anees Bazmee still makes the audience laugh out loud. Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor played the roles of Uday Bhai and Majnu in this film. Videos and memes of his characters are going viral even after so many years. Last year, the third installment of the franchise ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ was announced without the two veteran actors. The audience was therefore disappointed, repeatedly asking why they were not in the film. Now Nana Patekar has reacted to it.
In an interview to ‘The Lallantop’, Nana Patekar said, “When I was approached for the role of Uday Bhai, I was not ready to do it. But no one can do justice to Uday bhai by Anees Bajmi except me. He had sworn to his mother that only I can do this role.” He further said, “Welcome was possible only because Anil and I were together. If either of us had been in the film, it would not have been as successful as it was. Also, this film could not have been made without Anil.”
Apart from Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor , the film ‘Welcome’, released in 2007, also starred Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Mallika Sherawat, Paresh Rawal, Feroze Khan. The film was a hit at the box office. In 2015, the film ‘Welcome Back’ featured Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar in the same role, while Shruti Haasan and John Abraham played the lead roles. But the film failed to do well at the box office.
Meanwhile, the film ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ is being widely discussed. Because many big actors in Bollywood are part of this movie.
