Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Stree 2’ is storming the box office even on its 39th day of release. ‘Stree 2’ is considered one of the blockbuster movies so far. Importantly, this is the second Hindi film to cross the ₹600 crore mark domestically. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, ‘Stree 2’ reached ₹598.90 crore on Saturday and ₹603 crore on Sunday, with a weekend collection of ₹4.85 crore. The film has earned ₹75 crore in total.
The movie generated significant buzz on National Film Day. On that day, ticket prices were reduced to just ₹99 on Friday (the 20th), and ‘Stree 2’ benefited from it. The film collected ₹24.65 crore in its fifth week, earning ₹5 crore on Friday, and ₹3.65 crore and ₹4.85 crore on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
‘Stree 2’ has surpassed Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster film ‘Jawan’ at the box office. ‘Jawan’ earned ₹582 crore in Hindi and ₹643 crore domestically, including the Telugu and Tamil dubbed versions. So far, ‘Jawan’ was the highest-grossing film in India across all languages, but now ‘Stree 2’ has overtaken it in the Hindi language. ‘Stree 2’ has surpassed ‘Jawan’ to become the number one film.
Blockbuster Films Left Behind in the Race
‘Stree 2’ has surpassed other films that were considered blockbusters. Among them, Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ earned ₹502.98 crore in Hindi, while ‘Pathaan’ earned ₹524.43 crore. Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2,’ which was released only in Hindi, collected ₹525.7 crore at the box office. Surpassing all these films, ‘Stree 2’ has created history.
The film ‘Stree 2’ is directed by Amar Kaushik. Alongside Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Pankaj Tripathi play important roles. Now, it will be interesting to see how much more the film will earn.
