Team India Stuck In Barbados: The Indian team won the final match of T20 World Cup 2024 at the Barbados ground on June 29 and got their name on the trophy. The team was to leave for India the day after the victory. But for some reason the team had to stop there. Everyone is curious when the Indian team will enter home. Like the team, Indian fans were waiting for this day.
Team India is having trouble returning home due to bad weather in Barbados. Storm Beryl has caused severe weather in Barbados. The storm is said to hit the Caribbean island soon and the local government has placed it in the ‘high risk’ category. Hence, the BCCI has also had to change the plan of the team’s repatriation and is considering other options.
It was reported that the speed of this hurricane in the Caribbean is likely to be between 170 and 200 kmph, in which case Bridgetown’s airport may also be closed after 8 pm on June 30. A total of 70 people, including players and support staff members of Team India will have to return, for which the BCCI is now arranging a chartered flight from the US so that the team can leave.
When will the Indian team return home?
BCCI Secretary Jai Shah is trying his best to bring the champion Team India to India by chartered flight. Team India led by Rohit Sharma has won the T20 World Cup after 17 years after defeating South Africa on June 29. After this victory, the team is stuck in Barbados.
“The team was supposed to leave for New York from here (Bridgetown) and then reach India via Dubai. But now there is a plan to take a direct charter flight from here to Delhi. A meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also being considered,” said a source. According to a Cricbuzz report, the BCCI is considering a charter for an Indian contingent of around 70 people, which will consist of cricketers, their families, support staff and other officials. BCCI Secretary Jai Shah is overseeing all the arrangements. So the Indian team will return home soon.
