Vinesh Phogat wrote on the social media platform X, “Maa, wrestling won over me, I lost. I am sorry, your dreams, my courage, everything is broken. I don’t have any more strength than this. Goodbye wrestling 2001-2024. I will always be indebted to you all. Sorry.””
Vinesh was disqualified from the Olympics after she failed to complete the weigh-in on Wednesday morning, a few hours before the gold medal match. The Indian female wrestler was 100 grams overweight. Vinesh Phogat won the semi-final match against her competitor by a margin of 5-0. She was the first Indian female wrestler to qualify for the Olympic final.
