Palamu: Among the 11 candidates, Abhay Kumar of Communist Party of India and Satendra Kumar Paswan of Partnership Party (P) withdrew their names on the last day of withdrawal of nominations for Palamu Lok Sabha elections on Monday. Now nine candidates are left in the election fray for whom voting will be done on May 13. On this day, 22 lakh 43 thousand 34 voters will exercise their franchise for Palamu Lok Sabha. Voting will take place from 7 am to 5 pm. 2426 polling stations have been created. There will be web casting facility at many polling stations.
Regarding withdrawal of nominations, number of candidates and election preparations, District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan and Superintendent of Police Rishma Ramesan jointly addressed the press at the Collectorate on Monday evening. The DIO said that after the withdrawal of nominations, election symbols were allotted among the nine candidates remaining in the fray.
The District Election Authority said that voting can be done on the basis of 11 different types of documents. Superintendent of Police Rishma Ramesan informed that preparations for security arrangements have been completed at every booth. According to the situation of the booth, men, women and paramilitary forces will be deployed. He told that there will be parking of vehicles in an area of 300 meters at the general booth. The SP also said that so far four cases of Model Code of Conduct have been registered. Two cases have been registered in Hussainabad, one in Lesliganj and one in Chainpur. The amount which was seized recently has been handed over to the IT Department.
