Ranchi Bureau:
Under the Maiyan Samman Yojana, the next installment of ₹2,500 will be transferred to the accounts of women beneficiaries on December 11. Supriyo Bhattacharya, General Secretary and Spokesperson of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), shared this information on Tuesday. Over 50 lakh women are registered under this scheme.
Bhattacharya stated that the amount would be transferred “instantly” on December 11. He also commented on the BJP’s recent electoral losses, highlighting that the INDIA alliance secured victories in 27 out of 28 tribal-reserved seats, with the remaining seat narrowly contested.
He criticized BJP state president Babulal Marandi for offering suggestions to the government regarding tribal communities, suggesting he visit neighboring Odisha and Chhattisgarh to study the socio-economic and educational conditions of tribal communities under BJP’s rule.
Inclusive Cabinet Formation:
The JMM spokesperson assured that the upcoming state cabinet would be inclusive, featuring experienced individuals alongside a diverse group of representatives. He emphasized that selecting cabinet members remains the Chief Minister’s prerogative.
Minimum Monthly Wages for Contract Workers Increased:
Contract workers in Jharkhand will now receive a minimum monthly wage of ₹12,708.57 following a 4.14% increase in Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) effective from October 1. The new wage structure is as follows:
- Unskilled workers: ₹12,708.57/month
- Semi-skilled workers: ₹13,314.00/month

The state labor department has issued a notification confirming this adjustment. Earlier, on June 28, the state government revised minimum wages for contract workers, and the recent hike in VDA further increases their wages.
